Work Experience, Skills & Cultural Identity

Box. Build. Belong.

12-week youth programmes for young people aged 13–15 who are facing challenges or at risk of disengagement. Our work combines non-contact boxing, paid work experience, and cultural learning to help young people build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging

Each programme follows the same core structure:

1. Boxing (Trust & Confidence)

We start with non-contact boxing, delivered by Champs Within. Boxing acts as a hook activity — engaging young people quickly, building trust with coaches, and creating a safe, structured environment for growth.

2. Skills & Work Experience

Once trust is established, young people move into structured skill pathways where they:

  • Learn practical, transferable skills

  • Understand money, pay, and responsibility

  • Experience real-world tasks and expectations

3. Culture & Identity

Each pathway connects skills to cultural heritage, creativity, and identity — helping young people explore who they are and where they come from, while imagining future opportunities.

  • Engagement: a powerful hook for young people at risk of disengagement

  • Resilience: emotional control, focus, and perseverance

  • Trust: strong relationships with coaches that open the door to learning

Boxing creates the foundation that allows young people to engage fully in skills development and personal growth.

  • Our programmes are designed with impact in mind.

    Outcomes include:

    • Improved confidence, discipline, and physical wellbeing

    • Increased engagement in constructive activities

    • Reduced vulnerability to risky behaviours

    • Clearer aspirations for education, work, and enterprise

  • We work alongside schools, councils, youth clubs, and local organisations to ensure programmes are embedded in the communities they serve, supporting long-term positive outcomes.
